Display-worthy print of the English translation of Martin Luther’s Ninety-five Theses (Germany, 1517), available in multiple sizes on sturdy, high-quality paper in archival ink
———
This is the document that launched the greatest cultural revolution in history. The Protestant Reformation was ignited when Martin Luther, a theologian, academic, and Catholic priest, nailed his Disputation on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences — now usually called after the 95 theses it contained — to the door of the Schlosskirche in Wittenberg, Germany, on 31 October 1517.
This particular version of the text, which is perhaps the most common English translation, is based on the version of the Ninety-five Theses found in Works of Martin Luther with introductions and notes: Volume I, translated and edited by Henry Eyster Jacobs and Adolph Spaeth and published in Philadelphia in 1915. Minor updates to modernize and unify the text, including capitalization and punctuation, have been made.
The print is available with or without explanatory footnotes. These footnotes are also based on Jacobs and Spaeth’s work, completely updated in contemporary, easy-to-understand language.
The header features a contemporary interpretation of the Luther rose, a seal commissioned in 1530 for Martin Luther and which represented his theology. In the centuries since it has come to represent Lutheranism and Protestantism more broadly. Versions of the Luther rose are still displayed in the contemporary coats of arms of many Lutherstädte, or Luther cities, and other localities throughout Germany and Austria where Luther is presumed to have visited.
A banner at the bottom of the print displays the German phrase Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott, which means “A mighty fortress is our God” — the name and first line of the famous hymn written by Luther himself. This text is inscribed on the tower of All Saints’ Church, or Schlosskirche, in Wittenberg, on whose door Luther first posted these theses. Above this banner (and above the footnotes on the versions that have them) are Martin Luther’s name, the name of the Schlosskirche Wittenberg, and the date 31 October 1517.
The sole accent color on the print is a deep, vibrant red, symbolic of the Protestant Reformation.
Printed on sturdy, high-quality paper with archival inks and offered in multiple sizes that will fit any space, the print is perfect for display in a classroom, office, or other public space or even at home.

I strive to fulfill all orders, including custom orders, as quickly as possible—typically within one day for items I have in stock. Not all the items I ordered arrived in the package I received. Where is the rest of my order?
Please note that, because of the various production techniques I use, some orders may arrive in two or more separate packages. You will receive tracking information for each package when it ships.
I purchased the digital version of one of your prints by accident. Can I get a refund?
Yes — as long as you haven’t downloaded it yet (and yes, I can see on my end whether you’ve downloaded it or not). If you’ve purchased the digital version by accident, DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT and let me know of the error. We’ll make it right through a refund or exchange, or by figuring out another solution. But once you download the PDF, your purchase can’t be refunded, because there’s no reliable way for me to verify that you’ve deleted the downloaded file from your computer or other storage devices.
